Just 45 minutes from Washington, D.C. and 30 minutes from Annapolis, Shady Side feels worlds away, with peaceful streets, marinas, local parks, and the welcoming charm of a true Chesapeake Bay community. Spend your days exploring the Bay by kayak, visiting nearby marinas, or relaxing at the community beach. Craving a night out? Enjoy fresh seafood and waterfront dining at local favorites just a short drive or even a paddle away! Inside, unwind by the gas fireplace and stream your favorite shows in the comfortable living room or in any of the bedrooms, each equipped with smart TVs. Planning a crab feast? You’ll find all the essentials ready such as mallets, tools, and plenty of space for a true Maryland-style dinner. Afterward, step out onto the back deck to relax under the string lights or gather around the firepit for s’mores and stargazing. Out back, everyone will love the Game Shed—a fun bonus space featuring a stand-up arcade game, skeeball, and a mini-fridge stocked for easy entertaining. We've converted a sailboat into a sandbox for kids to enjoy. Two adult bikes are also available so you can explore the neighborhood or take a scenic ride along the water. Home Layout: The home spans two levels. The entry level features living room, dining, kitchen, one bedroom, a full bathroom, and a laundry area with washer and dryer. Upstairs, you’ll find two additional bedrooms and another full bath. The primary bedroom opens directly to the back deck, where you can dine outdoors, fire up the gas grill, or relax around the firepit. Whether you’re here for a family vacation, a quiet weekend escape, or a taste of life on the Chesapeake, our Shady Side cottage offers the perfect blend of comfort, fun, and local charm, all in a peaceful waterfront setting you’ll want to return to again and again. We have well water that it filtered and disinfected with a two different filtration systems. We provide bottled water that you can use to drink and cook with although the tap water is safe to consume. If you have not used well water before, please note that it can have a sulfur smell.
